Dear List members, In the past I've posted for SPENCER/MEEK names, and now I found the LONG and McCAMMON ancestors were also from the Jennings Co. in 1850 Census. I almost feel out of my chair when I found this out. The LONG and MEEK do not marry until 1890s in KS. The McCAMMON is a new surname for our research as of about four weeks ago. I learned Robert Scott Long's parents were Lewis LONG and Fanny McCAMMON. Their two boys were raised by the McCAMMON grandparents. Fanny died after the second son, William, was born. I'm trying to find what happened to Lewis LONG. He is on the 1850 census in Spencer TWP, but no where to be found on the 1860 census. He is not in the 1870 Marshall Co. KS census with the rest of the family. Did Lewis die between 1850 and 1860? William P. Long, Robert Scott Long's brother, is listed living with the William B. McCAMMON, the grandfather in 1860 census. But where is Lewis LONG. Other LONGs are listed in Jennings. I wonder if Lewis is related. It is stated in the 1850 census he was born in KY. Is any one on this list able to shed light on what happened to Lewis LONG or where Fanny McCAMMON LONG might be burried. Or who might be Lewis LONG parents. He is as far back as we can go at this time. Thank you for any help and your time for reading this lenghtly post. Sincerely, :-) Barbara Long
