The Phillips family came to Hendricks County, Indiana from Jennings County in the mid 1800's. The Arbuckle connection came about when Lucinda Phillips married a Nathan Arbuckle in Bartholomew County in 1850. She was the daughter of Thomas James Phillips of Jennings County. The Tharp connection has puzzled me for some time as it is closer to my direct line. In Hendricks County a Yanta Tharp married a John Lafayette Phillips on September 17, 1876 in Hendricks County. They had two daughters, a Alice who I think married a Walter Tharp and had a son by the name of Leon. The other daughter was Viola Phillips who married a Ball?? Now John reappears in Jasper County, Illinois in about 1884 by remarrying. My big question is what happened to YANTA and the daughters as they were not in Illinois. I find no record of death for any of them in Hendricks County. What do you think? Can you make a connection??
