According to "The William Grinstead Family in America," compiled many years ago by Gorrell Shumaker, Rev. Winfield Scott Grinstead was the son of William Alexander Grinstead and Regina Vaught. William Alexander Grinstead was on of eleven children of Edward Walton Grinstead and Catherine Donavan who were married in Washington County, Virginia, 20 February 1810. No sources for any of this information is given, except that most of the data was provided by Mrs. W. D. Grinstead of Bonner Springs, Kansas.
