For people who are interested in early newspaper articles, the Jefferson County library has a book with early newspapers of Jeff. CO 1817-1886. There are several articles which mention Jennings County and Vernon. There is an index in the book so that you can look up the surnames. For example one article that was listed was one with a name I've seen here recently. The excerpt reads. April 8 1824 (July) Indiana Republican Married on Tues. 30th in Jennings Co. by John Vawter, James Buckles and Mrs. Martha Smith.
