Pat, although I didn't notice anything in the 22nd column, the following is a will that I had received quite some months back from a cousin, that I still had here in my InBox so thought I would copy & paste to you as it is the RICKARD surname (although not the spelling you gave me) it might help somewhat. Antoinette waughtel@oz.net In the name of God Amen-- the ninth day of November one thousand seven hundred & ninety five I Jacob Rickard of the county of Rowan & State of North Carolina being sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given to God; Therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing it is appointed for all men to die-- do make & ordain this my last will and testament-- that is to say principally & first of all I give & recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it, & for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors:; and as touching such worldly estate as it hath been please God to bless me with in this life, I give devise and dispose of in the manner & form following-- In premis, I give and bequeath to my two sons John Rickard and Casper Rickard whom I likewise constitute make & ordain executors of this my last will and testament, all & singular my lands & tenements by them freely to be possessed. To my son John Richard I give or devise he should have a certain piece or parcel of land as follows, containing thirty acres lying and being on the south side of a certain line beginning at a hickory mentioned in my deed and running east about two hundred poles to the creek; and further I give or desire he should have adjoining this said line up the creek as it meanders fourteen poles thence west to the top of the hill across the branch to the old mill road thence northwest (tho not crossing the branch) to the old original line. and further I desire my son Casper Rickard should have all the remaining part of my lands lying out of these said boundaries and further I desire that my lands should be valued at one hundred pounds and that said lands should be surveyed & that my two sons John Rickard & Casper Rickard who shall possess these lands shall pay a proportionable part according to the quantity of land they receive agreeable to the above mentioned boundary to be kept of my personal estate which I desire shall be equally divided between my children as follows ____ Large Bible I desire shall be ____(not readable). Item-- I give & bequeath all my moveable property that has not been mentioned together with my still to my children Azebel Goss, Jacob Rickard, John Rickard, Mary Smith, Catherine Burkett, Casper Rickard, & Leonard Rickard to be equally divided. My will and desire is that the before mentioned sum of money which is to be paid by my two sons namely John Rickard and Casper Rickard to rest of my estate as before mentioned shall not be demanded or recoverable during the term of five years after my decease.
