Hi, Thought I'd post this to the list. This James Meek was the s/o Richard s/o Nathan Meek from Shelby and Henry Cos. KY. Marilyn Merritt "The History of Buchanan Co.MO Crawford Twp." page 1049-1050 James Meek Farmer, Section 33 PO Wallace, is a native of IN, born in Jennings Co. Dec. 7,1820. He was raised on a farm and received no education. He emigrated to MO in 1841 and was married in 1843 to Miss Cynthia Boyl. A native of OH. By this marriage he had 16 children. Two of whom are dead. He has eighty acres of land, all under fence and well improved, with good house and barn. He lost comsiderably by the late war, his damges amounting to sixteen hundred dollars. He served in the State Guards Confederate service, three months and was in the Pea Ridge Battle. He takes a lively interest in the improvement of different breeds of live stock.
