    3. Is Vernon a seperate place from Mt. Vernon? I have been looking for the burial place of my ggrandfather, John F. MAson, who died in 1909, I am told asn was placed in the care of Osborn and Sons Funeral Home. Would that be Vernon maybe? I couldn't find him in Mt. Vernon. According to The Plain Dealer, 26 June 1947, Benjamin Strickland was born 3 April 1878 in Ripley County, Indiana, died 12 June 1947 and is buried at Vernon. He married Sarah Bare 10 April 1903. 3. Donna, Mount Vernon is in the southwestern tip of Indiana in Posey County, on the Ohio River. It is across the river from Kentucky, and is also very close to Illinois. Have you looked in those two states? Vernon and North Vernon are in Jennings County, in southeastern Indiana.
