Ron, Annette may have been the niece of John French. He was born 4 July 1832, the son of William R. French and Judith Crew. He was born in Columbiana Co., OH into a family eventually numbering ten children. According to John's biography, his father was from NY and his mother from VA.They are buried in Columbiana Co. William died at the age of 63 and Judith at the age of 58. I don't know when John came to Jennings Co. He was a carpenter before the Civil War. Later, he farmed before getting into the newspaper business. John's biography is on the Newton Co, IN website. It was included in a History of Warren, Benton, Jasper & Newton Counties, 1883 in the chapter on Jefferson Township, Newton Co., IN. Hope this helps. Dori
