I'm pretty sure she was the daughter or granddaughter of William Gregory Lux. My husband is descended from William's brother, Ephriam D. Lux. William and Ephriam both went to Jackson Co., Ind. from Ky. William married Mary Ann Kelly there in 1829. William stayed there, but Ephriam and his family (most of them) moved to Texas with the Mercer Colony by 1850. I don't know of any other Lux families that went to Indiana, especially Jackson Co.

    3. Yes, copyright laws apply. Mr. Holmes (still living) wrote the first books in the 1970s, so the 75 year rule reaches into the 2050s. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jcbarbra@cs.com> To: <INJENNIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 10:24 AM Subject: Re: [INJENNIN] Jennings Co IN resource books > In a message dated 5/8/01 10:52:20 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > admotus@earthlink.net writes: > > << I will buy these three books and make them available to > everyone. 3. Jennings Co listers, I'm sorry I was not more specific about the abstracted court records books of Maurice Holmes. I prepared the list as a service for the Shelby Co IN mail list group and then at the last minute, realized there might be others that would be interested. In the process of working on his own family research, Mr. Holmes did a lot of work at surrounding Indiana county courthouses. During that time, he abstracted information from probate order books, common pleas volumes, complete record books, etc. Mr. Holmes' books are no longer in print. Shelby Co IN researchers have been asking me for over two years (I started the Shelby Co website Apr 1999) about getting copies of the Shelby Co and Decatur Co court records abstracted by Mr. Holmes. This need became even more acute when renovations to our courthouse closed off the vault (until Aug 2002!!!). To that end, I finally persuaded Mr. Holmes to make a list of the books he had at home in his personal library. We have taken these to a local franchise quick-print and have been given a quote on copying and collating them into plastic-spiral-bound books. The Shelby Co website has a list of the books. This list can be printed and used as an order form, if you are interested in any of the collections. Those of you who live out-of-state or, as in my case, are unable to travel even a few counties away, understand the frustration not being able to get to the local courthouse for research. The list of books, including a very brief description and Mr. Holmes' address are here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inshelby/books_holmes.htm If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me. 1. [INJENNIN] Rachel Conner
    2. Dori Bruns
    3. Need a little help here. I received a death certificate for Rachel Conner, widow of Willoughby Conner, who died in Indianapolis on 10 Feb 1882. Her father was listed as being Cornelius Johnson. Her mother's name was not listed. Her birthplace was Clark Co., OH. Rachel and Willoughby, with his father, Philip Conner, a Rev. War vet, moved to Jennings Co. in 1820 from Hamilton Co., OH. Their five younger sons all served in the Civil War. Four of those sons became newspapermen and started bought, sold, and ran newspapers all over Indiana. Two sons-in-law, John French and Richard Randall, were also newspapermen. Richard Conner also is listed in the 1870 census for Vernon as a County Auditor. The Plain Dealer and Banner were papers that were owned at one time or another by Allen S. Conner, Richard A. Conner, and John B. Conner. I don't know who owned them at the time of Rachel's death. Can someone tell me if there was an obituary for Rachel Conner in the Plain Dealer/Banner? There was a big one for Willoughby when he died in 1864. I'm hoping to find out more about her mother and her early life. Thanks for any help you can give. Dori Bruns

I have seen the 1895 map and that helps, but I know 31was begun in 26. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mike Schrink.
