I am researching the Specht Family in Jennings county. And I do recognize the Missy Specht. I do not know if the dates correspond with what you are looking for because I do not have my files available to me right now. I am presently out of town. The name was spelled in various ways including Specht, Spaeght, Spate, Spade. I have lots of baptimal and burieal information on this family. My Great Grandmother was Eva Catherine Specht. Her Father Blause Specht is buried in Jennings County. I have visited his grave. Please feel free to correspond with me directly at DJArnett@AOL.com. I am very excited to find someone else that is interested in this family line. Judy Arnett
Hi, I am researching the Ferry family. They lived in Scipio, IN. I am also researching the McNicholas family.Any information would be greatly appreciated. Mary McNicholas
Terry, I'm prejudiced, but I grew up in Carmel, and although it has changed a great deal since then, it's still a nice community. I go back every year to visit family. I must concede that Fisher's has grown to be a very nice place, too. Bunny in CA
Would appreciate a look up of the Fall family. They came to Jennings County 1886.I know there were a lot of Falls there. Am trying to piece together the various families. The ones I know are mine: Thomas, Jean, Jane, William, Alexander, Henry, Ruth Thank you. ----- Original Message ----- From: INJENNIN-D-request@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, June 30, 2001 3:02 PM To: INJENNIN-D@rootsweb.com Subject: INJENNIN-D Digest V01 #81 Content-Type: text/plain INJENNIN-D Digest Volume 01 : Issue 81 Today's Topics: #1 [INJENNIN] Hugh & Charity McNew ["Crawford" <crawford@futureone.com] #2 Re: [INJENNIN] 100 Years Ago Today [Terry Engel <tengel@sourceharvest.] Administrivia: To unsubscribe from INJENNIN-D, send a message to INJENNIN-D-request@rootsweb.com that contains in the body of the message the command unsubscribe and no other text. Hi Louise, Sorry I'm so far behind on emails. I'm slowly but surely getting caught up. Anyway, I wanted to let you and others know that I plan on moving to the Indianapolis area. I'll probably be in Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, or Madison counties. I don't want to fall in love with a house before I have this house sold so that's why I'm not sure where I'll end up. It's hard to find a house big enough for a family with 6 kids at home so I'll go where the house is. My husband has taken a job in Fishers, IN so it will be somewhere within commuting distance of Fishers. Thanks so much for your kind words. I'll keep the page and list until the state coordinator finds a replacement, but since I'm so busy I don't want to leave people hanging since I have so little time for upkeep on the page. In the meantime, I wanted to let people know that I have a copy of the Jennings county birth records book 1 (1882-1885) and the Jennings county death records book 1 (1882-1890) here at home if anyone needs a lookup. Keep in mind that these early records are very sketchy and your ancestor may not be in there even if they were born or died in Jennings county during that time frame. >From a probate package I have some limited information on a Hugh & Charity McNew. I know that Charity died in Nebraska, Jennings Co, Indiana on 26 Jun 1871. Three children of Charity & Hugh were named; Lizzie, John and Malinda. Charity's maiden name is unclear - it might have been Spay or Speagh or something similar. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family? Marriage dates, cemetery, additional death dates etc? The probate gives extensive information on Charity's grandparents and their children - the John Harris family of Ottawa Co, Michigan and before that - Knox Co, Ohio. Thanks - Denise Crawford
Terry does your Husband have a brother from Wyoming or Colorado? I worked with a Norn Engle at Coors who had a brother in the well drilling business from Shelby County Indiana. I wanted to thank everyone for the kind replies and well wishes. I've been off email for the last few days and haven't been able to send personal replies. Well, congratulation 'Terry, on that new baby boy!!! Glad everyone is doing well. How many of each does this make? I have a Jacob for a grandson and had a Jacob for a great-great grandfather so I think that is a pretty special name. Get plenty of rest and recouperating. Where in Indiana are you moving or do you know yet? Hi Terry, I'm devastated. You have been our genealogy rock in Jennings County. I don't know what we will do without you but I wish you a smooth move if that is possible with 7 kids and a new baby. I will hope you move to another county that I'm researching in IN. Best of luck and a bigger house. Let us know when baby is born. Hey Terry: Congratulations on the new baby. I really appreciate all the help you've been the last year. Go to http://www.northvernon.com/ and click on Local News on the side menu. Then scroll down to find the 100 Years Ago column for 6/18. Also, I'm due in 2 weeks to have the baby (due July 4th). I probably won't be around much for the next several weeks. I've asked the state coordinator to find a replacement for maintaining the page since we will be moving out of Jennings county. So far I haven't heard back from him. Thanks Bunny, I will miss people on the Jennings list. We will stay in Indiana though and I will let everyone know where I'm at when I get there (if that makes sense) in case someone needs a lookup there. This will be baby #8 so as you can imagine, it's pretty hectic around here now. Thanks for the well wishes. Take care, Terry On Wednesday 20 June 2001 16:33, Bunny Colvin wrote: > Congratulations!! Terry, About a week ago, I stumbled across this... I just realized I don't even know what to call this - discussion list? I was looking for a venue to research my ancestors and have just been sitting back trying to figure out what is going on. Then today you send me two bombs: At your request (see Subject), I scrolled down and found the 100 years ago column and peeked in. And there down at the very bottom of the column, under Butlerville, was my Great Grandmother (Agnes Boyd) and "quite a number" of friends celebrating her 55th birthday. What a wonderful surprise. How can I ever thank you enough. Then the worse thing of all. You're leaving. I don't even know you and already feel the lose. I am trying to verify the names of the children of James Pickett, Jr and his wife Almara Burns. He died in Ripley Co. Indiana in 1855. The information I have is that they had two children, Dike (Dyke) born 8 April 1853 and a dau. Catherine born ?. I do not have the document to prove this information. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Wayne Pickett
