I didn't know James D. was James "Duvall". In fact, all I had on him was that he married 1832 Tamar Pool. I don't have a list of their children. The Benjamin Taylor who died 1776 in Culpeper Co., Va. (Will Book B, pp 178,179) listed his daughter Elizabeth Miles and his son-in-law Charles Miles. He mentioned several Taylor grandchildren but no Miles grandchildren. The will was written 11 Feb. 1775 and probated 17 August 1776. So, his daughter was married by 1775 to Charles Miles. However, there is NO PROOF that this Elizabeth and Charles Miles were the parents of our Reuben, etc. A Charles Miles did die in 1799 Culpeper but he had no will. I have a copy of his inventory but cannot locate it right now. Its nice to know of another "cousin". Please keep in touch. Family researched by Mrs. J.M. Meyer, Kittridge, Colorado in February 1964. I was just starting genealogy then and it was a couple of months later that I decided to write to her again and ask her several questions, including her sources. My letter was returned as undeliverable and I never saw or heard from her again. So, I really don't know the source. Sorry. Betty Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom or Donna <tacii@olg.com> To: Buddy Bowles <gbowles@ka.net> Sent: Saturday, April 22, 2000 3:37 PM Subject: Re: Fw: Miles Family > I received a family group sheet of Reuben Wm Miles and the date of 28 Jul 1765 > for his birth is noted as source from you. Was this in a family bible or something? Research There is no reference to the four sons of Charles & Elizabeth in the Virginia County Taxes by Fothergill. Charles, John F. , and their widow mother is listed, but William, Reuben William, Thomas, & Gabriel are not mentioned. There is mention of Gabriel and Reuben in the Pendleton Co., KY Court Records by 1800. According to family folklore, Reuben's wife was a Duvall maybe even a sister to Mary Duvall who married John F. Miles but research has yet to prove this. Not much is known of Reuben because he died before the 1850 census. He did manage to marry his daughters off to the influential Whittaker brothers. 1. [INJENNIN] 1932 reunion newspaper lookup, please
    2. Hi folks, I would very much appreciate it if anyone checking the newspaper microfilms of the Jennings county area would take an extra few minutes to look for an article for me. The family involved was named LETT... An article appeared in the Chicago Daily News on Aug 13th, 1932, saying that the annual reunion of Fielding Lett`s Kin- to be held Sunday Aug 21st, 1932 in Commisky IN--- This was at least the fourth reunion that the family had organized --so there may be other years that a mention will appear, but this is the only one for which I have the exact date of the reunion. Other sources say that the reunion was a huge sucess, with people coming from many states, as far away as California. My aunt remembers the reunion, which involved "lots" of those long tables pushed together for people to eat at. (She remembers it as a huge gathering and complained at the time because they put her to work carrying out pies for the dessert). I would very much like to have a copy of the article to check for names that might help my research. Thanks, Sherri

    3. Did you check the 1820 census to see if he was still there? He had to have been known of, to have been written of. Or if missed in the 1820, check the 1830. Not only for Jennings but surrounding counties as he could have been just across a boundary line and counted for the other county. Just a thought. It is not known where he met and married ANNA, but it certainly took place prior to 1840 when their first child, WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON was born. The 1850 Census of Campbell Township, Jennings County, Indiana shows JOHN BOYD-33 farmer, born Ohio; ANNA-29 born Kentucky; WILLIAM-10 born Indiana; JACOB-8 born Indiana; MARTHA-5, born Indiana. (The 1860 and 1890 Census was not available in 1991 when this research was done.) The 1870 Census of Bigger Township, Jennings County, Indiana shows ANNA as the head of household-48, born Kentucky; MARTHA-24; MARGARET-19; JOSEPH-16; GEORGE-12; and MARY-9. John was one of the early landowners in Jennings County. His original purchase of land in Jennings County was made on 08/13/1851. On page 7 of an early Tract Book it shows that he purchased the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 in Section 3, Bigger Township, T 6 North, Range 9 East, amounting to 38.57 acres. The 1884 Plat Book for Jennings County show that parcel of land belonging to a Rebecca Hill. The 1884 Plat Book for Jennings County also shows JOHN and ANNA's heirs owning land in the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 4 (38.86 acres), and the NW 1/4 o NW 1/4 of Section 3 (40 acres) in Bigger Township; a 15 acre fraction of Section 33 in Campbell Township, just across the township line to the north, was in the name of MARY D. BOYD (the youngest child of JOHN and ANNA BOYD. These sites, and the 1851 purchase are approximately 2 miles directly south of Butlerville, which is in Campbell Township. (All of this land is now heavily wooded (1991).) The "Vernon Banner" also reported that WILLIAM FAWCETT, (whose land purchase is also recorded near JOHN's, and is shown as a neighbor in Section 3 on the 1884 Bigger Township Plat) was the administrator of JOHN's estate. 1850 - 1870 - 1880 Census Records 1884 Jennings County Plat Maps Excerpt from page 71 of Tract Book ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- M Child 5: Joseph K.
