Bunny, It would be great to see them on the Jennings County site, we could probably all find an ancestor or two. There is a book called the Cemeteries of Jennings county that has listed all the cemeteries in Jennings county and a list of who is buried in each place with dates. A lady from Cal. told me about it and sent me a partial list she had made of Otter Creek cemetery. The info is not current as my grandmother is buried there and it does not have her death date on it and she died in 1986 but it is quite nice. She said she had come to Louisville Kentucky on business and found it at the public library. I have been planning a trip to the library, if I find the book I will copy the pages and share with all. you might try your own libraries. If Terry is reading, do you know anything about the existence of this book and if that is indeed the name. It would be great to put that info on the Jennings county sight like Ripley county. I'll see what I can come up with. He has eighty acres of land, all under fence and well improved, with good house and barn. He lost comsiderably by the late war, his damges amounting to sixteen hundred dollars. He served in the State Guards Confederate service, three months and was in the Pea Ridge Battle. He takes a lively interest in the improvement of different breeds of live stock.
Terry, I am looking for the cemetery where my 2GGP are buried. They lived in Bigger Twp or Vernon, in Jennings County. I am looking for Fielding Denney and his wife Jane Hicklin Denney. Jane died in 1826 and Fielding died in 1845. I suppose they could be buried on their farm. The next generation, including all siblings crossed the plains to Oregon in 1849 and 1851. Do you have anything on them? Thank you. Also, would you be able to check the North Vernon cemeteries for Edgar Harper. He died abt 1890-91 at age 1 year+. His parents were Wm. J. and Emma D. Harper. Thank you, Bunny Colvin

Hello, Can you tell me anything about the Pinhook Cemetery and who is buried there? I have information that an ancestor is buried there. Thank You, Mionne djathb@aol.com
Hello List, I am searching for my G Grandfather, James Allen Williams. He was born 31 May 1875 and died in Jennings Co. on 5 September 1935. My Great Aunt, who is 74 yo went to Jennings co with my sister and myself to show us where he was buried. She said he had been living with other family members for 5-6 years when he died. She thought he was buried in Scipio. She was only 8 yo when he died and her parents were divorced at the time. She remembers that they went down a long hill up to the main road and turned right or south on the main road. She says the burial spot had a creek behind and to the right. Aunt Toots does not believe there is a headstone. We went to Mrs. Cartwrights cemetery but no luck. My aunt is now distraught over the fact that she/we cannot find his grave. My sister and I want to come and look around for ourselves. How many cemeteries do you all have? Does anyone have a complete ( or even incomplete ) listing of cemeteries? Any other ideas? Any way you could point me would be appreciated. TIA, Joni
Hope this is not inappropriate but just wanted to say sorry about the death in family and that we will miss you and your wonderful helpfulness. I am so disappointed - no 100 years ago article.
In a message dated 00-11-06 22:52:28 EST, you write: << Sherri, The Hancock County In. Gen. Soc. just had a speaker from Earlham College in Richmond Indiana. He stated that they were the largest depository for most Quaker records in Indiana. Joni in Indy >> Thanks Jodi, I will dash them off a note, but I don't hold out much hope---Two different men whom I know to be "experts" on Quaker info in the Jennings county area have already said that they know of no records left on the meeting---and I know they have both worked in the records at Earlham---Still, it never hurts to check, right? Thanks for thinking of me. Sherri
In a message dated 00-11-06 16:29:31 EST, you write: << I'd be happy to help. I live in Commiskey, but I have no clue where the Walton Cemetary is. If I can find that out, I'll check it out for you. Brian Thanks Brian, The only information I have about the cemetery is that it is in section 14---and the two nearest roads are 700S and 100E. I will try looking it up on the GNIS maps later. Maybe I can find the road on that. I really do appreciate it. If you need anything in Clark co IN, I can return that favor that way! Sherri
Just a reminder to check the Plain Dealer today for the 100 Years Ago today column. You can find it at http://www.northvernon.com. Also, I wanted to let everyone know that I will be offline the rest of this week due to a death in the family. Terry Jennings County INGenWeb Coordinator
Walton cemetery is loced in section 14 township 5N and range 8# in Montgomery township. Its location is the southwest corner of intersection of 700S and Base Road. It is a private cemetery. Hope this helps. Terry
