The Frederick Rice Family reunion will be held July 1, 2000, on the old RICE homestead on the grounds of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC). Frederick RICE was the only son of Barnhart RICE, who immigrated from Germany between 1728 and 1746. After serving in the Revolutionary War, Frederick married Anna Catherine LAUFFER in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. They later moved to Wayne County, Ohio, near Wooster. A number of Frederick and Catherine RICE's descendants migrated to Indiana from Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania in the mid-1800s and settled in northeastern Indiana, particularly in the counties of Huntington, Allen, Whitley, Wabash, Wells, Adams, and Jay.
