    1. FREE? Sierrahome searchable data
    2. Jackie Hartley
    3. Hello. I have been informed by someone (I will not publicly embarrass them) of "where to go" concerning the site I sent. I apologize for bothering the list with this (because I know the list is for genealogy & history). I thought & still think it is a free searchable site since I checked it out again this morning. I realize there are ads on the page but that is not what I mentioned in my post. However, I would like to apologize for upsetting anyone. The person sent the email (flaming me) directly to me so they did not feel so strongly "to go public" with their dirty language. I apologize again for upsetting anyone. Jacqueline in Ohio

I thought someone might be interested to see if any of their surnames showed up here. If you don't want to search the Titanic Passenger list then just hit your delete or discard. 1. GEDCOMS
    2. RICHARD F DENNEY
    3. This is embarrassing!!!! Through several previous messages I have tried to convey to you on the Denney and Jay County Rootsweb Forums my correct url to view Samuel Denny's GEDCOMS. I had thought it was all settled as I heard nothing more on problems until yesterday. It turns out that even my last posting was incorrect for the "FAMILIES" page where the GEDCOMS are located, I had misspelled families as "FAMLIES" and that of course would not work. The correct url is: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7853/denney/Families.html My mind evidently wanders some so please bear with me <G> Richard Denney

    3. JoanBohlin, Denney Forum and Jay County Forum on Rootsweb. Sorry about all the confusion, the proper url to get direct to my families page is http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7853/denney/famlies.html , the problem was that I gave you a capital "F" in families and it should be lower case. You know how these ole computers and web sites are <G> Richard -----Original Message----- From: JoanBohlin@aol.com <JoanBohlin@aol.com> To: RDENNEY@prodigy.net <RDENNEY@prodigy.net> Date: Sunday, September 19, 1999 1:12 PM Subject: Re: GEDCOMS >The page still comes up saying that your site >http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7853/denney/Famlies.html >doesn't exist.

    3. In this below message I posted yesterday, one of the urls below is incorrect, for the one if you want to by-pass my home page and go directly to my families page, it would be http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7853/denney/Famlies.html Richard Denney

    1. GEDCOMS
    2. RICHARD F DENNEY
    3. Hello to Jay County Indiana researchers. I myself descend from Jay County folks, matter of fact from one of the very first settlers of Jay County, William Felton Denney who settled there in 1831. I have large data bases of descendants of William's , and naturally all those associated with him through marriages. These data bases would include thousands of people from the Jay County, IN & Mercer County, Ohio. I have uploaded my data to my web site in GEDCOM format if anyone is interested in looking at them. My home page is http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lake/7853/denney , once there you can go to index at bottom of page and select my "FAMILIES" page which contains the GEDCOMS. The GEDCOM that would contain people of interest to Jay County would be "AZARIAH" but feel free to look them all over. If you want to by-pass my home page and go direct to GEDCOM page, use http://www.geocities.com/Heatland/Lake/7853/families Enjoy the browsing and feel free to comment on them. 1. New Site Content!
    2. Amy Campbell
    3. Hello everyone! We have a new volunteer on the site with biograhphical and history books, as well as his own very large gedcom file garnered from his own Jay County research. You can reach him through the site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~injay ...go to the lookup page and there he is! Welcome, John and thanks so much! There are a few more photos up in the scrap book! Its getting very popular and I really must re-vamp it...one of these days! Thanks also to those of you who offered to proof read the cemetary transcriptions when they are ready. Our tireless volunter Eloine Chesnut is working away at scanning the typed records generously sent to us by the Jay County Genealogy Society... there are over 10,000 names and she is still not done, having saved the BIGGEST cemetaries for last! I have put a few pictures up from my recent trip to Jay County, just little views of the landscape, at http://www.rootsweb.com/~injay/trip.htm . I don't know if I told you all, but while I was there I went through the very early criminal records of Jay County. I must tell you, while I did not find any of MY ancestors (phew!) the records were quite fascinating! If there are any KNAPP descendants out there, you come from some colourful folks! I wonder how many people over look criminal records as a source? If I get back, I'd love to go through them in more detail! Amy

    1. Re: Jay Co. Gen Society, web site etc
    2. David Taylor
    3. Amy I second that. I found the Society to be very helpful. I am a member of a few county societies and find Jay County to be an excellent resource. I am excited about the co-operative efforts and just received my newletter from the Society and know that the listings of resource they are publishing will be helpful to all members not located in the area. I also encourage all list members to consider membership in the Society. David Taylor Amy Campbell wrote: > Hello everyone! I have returned from my first ever trip to Jay Co. Had a > wonderful time! 3. Hello everyone! I have returned from my first ever trip to Jay Co. Had a wonderful time! The Jay Co. Genealogy Society Folks were a great help. Unfortunately, the Salt Lake City folks were there filming wills etc. so I could not access the orignal documents. I must tell you that the Jay County Genealogy Society is trying to get "custody" of some of these original documents. I thought this was an important project of theirs: You know how frustrating it sometimes is to find death records in Jay Co? Thats because many of the records were destroyed in a flood. I made a personal donation to the society to help defray the costs in obtaining and housing these records properly. While I was there we talked about the web site and the work of the society and the importance of working co-operatvely. I have already told you that the web site will at sometime in the near future have a data base of cemetary inscriptions from Jay County Cemetaries, donated by the Jay County Genealogy Society and currently being scanned and typed by a tireless volunteer! These inscriptions were a huge help to me, especially since I had been unable to obtain death records for a few of my folks. I am sure they will be of interest to you too! I have been a little slow to update the site of late, its been very busy here for me, but we also have another new look-up volunteer and some more additions to the scrap book, and I hope to post a few photos from my trip this weekend. If anyone out there has time to proof-read some of the cemetary transcriptions before they are placed on the site, please let me know. Also, having been there myself and seeing what they have and what they want to do, I would encourage you to join the Jay Co. Genealogy Society if you have not already done so. Hope you all had as nice a summer as me!

    2. David Taylor
    3. Jan What are your grandparents names I have access to the Jay County Marriage Indexes and will look them up and see if the are listed. Also the Jay County Genealogy Society is a wonderful resource and is made up of a great group of people. Rick S. is currently the office manager there and I have found them to be helpful. I encourage the list to join the society and use its resources. I am a member and I live in Michigan. I believe membership is only $10.00 for the year. Their email is jaycogen@jayco.net David
