Hello everyone! Yes, we are definately working on putting all cemetary transcriptions on line. This is a good time to remind anyone out there:...if you volunteered to proof read the data base, we are waiting to hear from a few of you PLEASE respond to Eloine Chesnut's emails. In the meantime, please note that these transcriptions were donated for the website by the Jay County Genealogy Society, so they are in possession of the originals. The Jay County Genealogy Society will do look-ups for members and non-members alilke, obviously its cheaper for members and membership is $10.00. The cemetary inscriptions are a major source of information since early Jay County death records were destroyed in a flood. >From the main web page there is a link to the Jay County Genealogy from a secondary page. There they have listed thier membership fees and benefits, books for Sale, etc. They are a very active society and are soon to become the custodians of early probate records. the main page is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~injay and you will find the link in the right hand column under research assistance Amy -----Original Message----- From: Bob Shannon [SMTP:earth@televar.com] Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2000 12:30 AM To: INJAY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: cemetery records At 08:51 PM 02/09/2000 -0600, Dem Bones wrote: >Have any of the Jay Co cemeteries been >indexed and put into book form? >If so are they for sale? >Thanks. >Dem bones. Have any of the Jay Co cemeteries been indexed and put into book form? If so are they for sale? Thanks. Dem bones.
If you happen to live close to a regional office of the National Archives, you have access to all the census records. I have been a heavy user of the facilities in San Bruno, California, near where I live. << Does anyone know if any Jay Co. census transcriptions are online? >>

Hello everyone! I wanted you to know that I put a new little data base up at the INGENWEB Jay County Site today at http:www.rootsweb.com/~injay Look for the "New" sign to see it..it is a listing of students and teachers from a Redkey school book. Thanks to Walter Wolford for contacting me about it, and donating it to the site. We are STILL working on the searchable data base of cemetary listings. This has been a major major undertaking to scan them all in, proof read them and correct the errors. I can not remeber the exact stats but believe we are talking about over 15,000 names. In the mean time, its great to have new content like this school book listing. THere are also a couple of new pictures in the ever growing scrap book! Amy
