Hi, everyone. Just wanted to let you know that I'm trying to find out what caused the recent rash of spam (junk mail) that we received on this list. I've forwarded these messages to RootsWeb so they can look at them. From the response they sent me, it seems that sometimes the people sending these messages figure out a way to send them to the list without going through RootsWeb. I'm not sure if that's the case for the messages we received. You should know RootsWeb's "spam detective" program has stopped a number of other junk messages from hitting our list this week. I noticed that the offending messages all started out with "{not a subscriber}" in the Subject line, so that might be something to watch for on future messages if you don't want to waste your time opening up junk messages. I will give you an update about the situation if I find out anything more. --Dolores Lombardi
