I am researching my Clifton family, who came to Jackson Co., IN from KY. My g-g-g-grandfather, Alfred Burdett "A.B." Clifton, came to Jackson Co. in about 1860. I believe there were other Cliftons already there by that time. If anyone has any information on these people, or if you have access to the 1850 census and can tell me if there were other Cliftons there already, I would really appreciate it. Why did people come from KY to Jackson Co. before the Civil War? What was the draw? Thanks, Julie Clifton Laughner
