Hi Jackson Co Rooters, I would like to take a moment to welcome each of you to the Jackson County INGenWeb E-Mail or Discussion List. This is a new List, and so far about 10 people are signed up. If you're familiar with how Lists work then you can skip on down to the 3rd paragraph, otherwise you may want to read this: The List is for discussion regarding genealogy and history in Jackson County, IN. That means, if you have information you would like to share on your family, the area where your ancestors lived or help another Jackson County Rooter then by all means send in an e-mail to the List. Or, if you come across a genealogy hint of some kind that might help someone else…..send that in too. My philosophy concerning how the List shall be maintained is this……Most of us or maybe none of us live in Jackson County. The List has been created to help those people researching here. Use the List! That is the only way you can be assured that you are using every avenue the Jackson County, Indiana USGenWeb Homepage provides. Someone may have an answer to your question, and then again…maybe not. That is the chance you take. I also believe that we should all be friendly and courteous to one another. If you want to tell us about your g-g-grandmother then do so, or an experience that you have been rewarded with in your search for your Jackson County ancestors. I don't know if you're familiar with the word "flame-war" or "flaming", but this means that people are discourteous to one another when they respond to another person on a List. I will not tolerate any of this type of behavior, and you will be unsubscribed from the List if this problem arises. I hope that you understand why I must have this rule for the List. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me about this. Now, do you want to know who I am? Well, I'm just a regular old person (well, maybe kinda young) like yourself. I've done genealogy for 20 years. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagine, though!! I am fairly new to Jackson County research so you will have to bear with me while I search my way through the county to find information to aid you in your search. I'm a fanatic about genealogy and love doing webpages for both my counties almost as much as I love genealogy. Oh…and sometimes I rattle on and don't make to much sense, so if I start doing that just stop me and ask me what I'm talking about. <VBG> So far the only family that I am researching in Jackson County is MIZE.
