Married to Mary "Polly GOEN 20 Dec 1832 in Jackson Co., IN. They had the following children: Leonard D. ALLEN [11 Dec 1835 - 6 Mary 1850], Sarah J. ALLEN [26 Dec 1837 - 12 Jan 1858], Charity ALLEN [7 Apr 1840 - ], Wm. ALLLEN [23 Apr 1842 - 3 Aug 1843], William Jackson ALLEN [5 Jul 1844 - 1 Mar 1899] married to Hanah Amanda McKinney 27 Feb 1868, Arena K. ALLEN [26 Jan 1847 - ] maried Henry J. BANKS on 10 Apr 1865, Steven P. ALLEN [13 Feb 1849 - ], Rhoda Ann ALLEN [29 Mar 1851 - 10 Aug 1904] married Lafayette DIX 4 Sep 1880, George W. ALLEN [21 Mar 1853 - 23 Mdar 1853], Coprnelius ALLEN [6 Nov 1855 - 8 Nov 1855], and Albert ALLEN [1870 - 1873] The Allens moved to the Washington Co., IN area after James T had a second marriage to a Lucinda RUSSELL on 28 Jul 1859.
