    3. Hi All, I've just subscribed to the Jackson Co,IN maillist. I've dropped two of my other unproduction email-lists and thought it was time to see what this one can do. Here is a brief bio: An old Sonoma Co,CA County History (1881) shows a bio of my LEVI DAVIS as: "DAVIS, LEVI. Was born in Jackson County, Indiana, March 21, 1822. At the age of seventeen years he settled with his parents in Warren County, Illinois, and there resided till the Fall of 1840 when his parents moved to Green County, Missouri, and there he commenced farming. Here he married REBECCA LAKEY on January 6, 1842. In 1852 Mr. Davis crossed the plains to California by ox-team and arrived in Petaluma on the 29th of August of that year, and first settled near Liberty school-house in that township where he farmed until 1871. In this year he moved to his present residence near Forrestville and occupies three hundred acres of land on which he raises wheat and carp. His family consists of JOHN VALENTINE, JOSEPH, JACOB, CHARLES NUTON, CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, PHOEBE, REBECCA ZARRILDA, and LYDIA ANN." Levi had a cousin also named Levi. This cousin Levi married a Matilda CLINE in Illinois. The 1820 nor 1830 Jackson Co,IN Fed Census don't offer much help: 1820: Thomas Davis (oldest) 101111 00101 Zacharia Davis 200010 10010 Joseph Davis 100100 20100 John Davis 000100 20100 1830 James Davis John Davis Joseph Davis William Davis Thomas Davis Can anyone find a tie in with my Levi? =========================================================== LAKEY/BALES/DAVIS/HADLEY/ See my genealogical webpage at: www.afamily.net =========================================================== $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Impeach THEM...see www.afamily.net $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
