Mr. Casper was a 1932 graduate of Huntington High School. He was a railroad conductor for 35 years, retiring in 1976 from the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of United Transportation and a life member of Elks Lodge 805. He was born Oct. 15, 1912, in Huntington County, a son of Charles and Edith Dillman Casper. He married Mary Margaret Scher Sept. 14, 1940, in Huntington; his wife survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Thomas J. Casper, Peru, and Jerry Allen Casper, Gardner, Mass.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Sunderman and Mary Sours, and a brother, Eugene Casper. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Father Gary Sigler presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Kathy Kalley Kathy Kalley, 58, Naples, Fla., died Tuesday (June 21, 2005) at Naples Community Hospital. She had worked as a controller at Nassau Pools in Naples for 20 years, retiring in January 2005. She was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Bluffton, a daughter of Robert and Margaret Brebaugh Busick. She married Gene Kalley Feb. 14, 1986; her husband survives. Additional survivors include two daughters, Ami Waters of Andrews and Angie Williamson of Lafollette, Tenn.; a son, Ryan Saunders of Huntington; a stepson, Kevin Kalley of Florida; a brother, Robert Busick of Columbia City; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A grandchild is deceased. Calling is noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Deal-Rice & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday, with Rev. Joanne Whallon Lachenmaier Joanne Whallon Lachenmaier, 73, of Logansport and formerly of Huntington, died at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday (June 22, 2005) at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. Mrs. Lachenmaier was a retired co-owner of Whallon Machinery Inc., Royal Center. She had been active at one time in the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce and Logansport Economic Development Foundation. She had also served on the board of Sangralea Valley Boys Home in Walton. She attended Ball State University and Earlham College, where she was a drum majorette and baton twirler. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Logansport. She was born May 7, 1932 in Grant County, a daughter of Roy and Elzora "Ted" Jones Pulley. She married John Alan Lachenmaier in Delphi on May 16, 1980. Her husband died June 11, 1994. Mrs. Lachenmaier is survived by a son, Michael Whallon, Lucerne; two daughters, Leslie Smith, Logansport, and Sarah Layman, Delphi; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Whallon Moser; and a sister, Jane Byington. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home, 711 E. Market St., Logansport. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Father Dennis O'Keeffe officiating. Burial will be private. Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.
