I will type these out in case they are of use to you (or anyone else). Remember that obituaries (or me) could have names spelt wrong and maybe have wrong dates. Claude Hoover, 9-10-1900 to 2-24-1979 Died at Huntington Memorial Hospital.He was born Sept 10, 1900 in Lancaster twp to Charles and Rella (Hosler) Hoover. First marriage was to former Cora I. Wamsley on April 17, 1920 who died January 15,1954. Second marriage was to Marjorie E. Faulkner on December 19,1966. She died February 6, 1978. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs Jesse (Louise) Herrick of Huntington; Mrs Ralph (Mae) Bieghler of Huntington; Mrs Fred (Maridean) Converse of Huntington; Mrs Jack (Janet) Kahn of Andrews; three sons Charles D. Hoover of Huntington; James M Hoover of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Herbert L. Hoover of Huntington. Three stepsons Larry Faulkner of Bridgeport, Conn.; Paul Faulkner of Columbia City; and Earl Faulkner of LaOtto, and one stepdaughter Mrs Marlene Carrouthers of Atlantic Beach, Florida. 18 grandchildren, 14 stepgrandchildren, and 19 greatgranchildren. Four sisters, Mrs Ruth Wamsley of Huntington; Mrs G. John (Lucille) Truitt of Huntington; Mrs Zelma Golden of Waynedale,IN; and Mrs Fern Young of Huntington. Two brothers Mark Hoover of St Petersburg, Fla and Max Hoover of Huntington. Burial at Lancaster Cemetery. Charles Hoover, 68 years old died at 7:25am on December 23, 1942 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter Mr & Mrs Floyd Young, 549 Etna Ave (Huntington). He had been seriously ill four months. Mr Hoover was born in Lancaster twp, this county, March 7, 1874 to David and Lydia Ann Souers Hoover. His marriage to Emma Rilla Hosler was Sept 27, 1899. Mrs Hoover died Dec 8, 1927. Surviving children are Claude Hoover, Mrs Ruth Wamsley, Mrs Lucille Truitt, Mrs Zelma Golden, and Mrs Fern Young, all of Huntington; Mark Hoover of Wabash and Private Max Hoover, Camp Carson Colo. There are 17 grandchildren and one great granchild. Mrs Bertha Dolby of Lancaster township is a sister and Melvin Hoover, Lancaster township, is a brother. Two sisters, Nora and Della, and one grandchild Thomas New Truitt are dead. Mr Hoover was a farmer residing 5 miles south of Huntington on the Lancaster road. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Brethren Church. The body was returned to the Young home, 549 Etna avenue where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren with the Rev Paul Updike officiating assisted by the Rev P. Virgil Harris. Burial will be at Lancaster cemetery. Flowerebearers were Miss Norma Jean Wamsley, Miss Mary Lou Wamsley, Mrs Louise Herrick, Miss Mae Hoover, Miss Maridean Hoover, Mrs Betty Wood, Miss Donna Mae Golden, Miss Carolyn Ann Golden, Miss Margaret Shultz, Miss Doris Young, Miss Opal Dolby, Mrs Lelah Watson, Mrs Doris Keel, Robert Truitt, James Hoover and Herbert Hoover. Pallbearers were Charles D. Hoover, Richard Wamsley, Jesse Herrick, Carl Hoover, Dean Dolby, and Robert Wood. Burial was at Lancaster cemetery. I got these obits from the local library,I'm sure there is much more info to be found to be there, in Huntington that is the best place to go. Do you ever see the message boards at Genforum? there are a couple of people there (at the Huntington county site) who have the surname Hoover in their family, they could maybe be of help too. Ellen
