Hannah Elizabeth, daughter of Henry G. and Francenia Miller and the wife of Commodore P. Shadle; was born in the county of Blackford, in the state of Indiana, March 16, 1851, and died at her home in Chester township, Wells county, Indiana, November 26, 1895, aged fourty-four years, eight months and ten days, the fatal sickness being typhoid pneumonia. She was married to Cpmmodore P. Shadle, January 6, 1870. To this union five children were given, all of whom survive. She united with the Christian church in her youth, and February 21, 1885, together with her husband of the Episcopal Methodist church, united with the Wesleyan Methodist connection, continuing a member therein until her death. She was bereft of her husband in death, twenty-seven days prior to her own demise. True it is said in the scripture, the righteous are taken from the evil to come. How quick the precious home on earth is broken up; five children left orphans in the world, two of them down with the typhoid fever, same as their father and mother died with. The funeral was preached in the home from the text of scripture, John, 2-18. It was a heart-rending scene as they lay and looked on mother for the last time. Pray for those children. God bless them. G.W. Zike.
