In the interests of trying to trace my Mitchells back into North Carolina and Virginia from Tennessee, I have started a Mitchell dna study which so far has 16 Mitchells from different lines which trace their ancestors back to N.C. or Virginia in the 1700's. We are trying to find common ancestors. The one who my family came the closest to was descended from a Jacob Mitchell (m. Elizabeth Duke) who was born in Mecklenburg Co. Virginia, and fought in the Revolution. I spoke on dna testing and the Mitchell test at the Allen Co. Indiana Genealogy Society and someone gave me a picture of the historical marker in Huntington and asked me if I was related; so I thought I would inquire. If you know any males from Elijah's family who would be interested in joining our dna test let me know.
