He was left an orphan when quite young, and lived with his uncle until Nov. 16, 1838, when he was married to Margaret Reed. To them were born eleven children, six sons and five daughters, one son preceding him to the grave, and also his companion, who died June 5, 1857. His second marriage occurred Oct. 27, 1858, with Jemimah Thompson, and to them were born five children, one daughter preceding him to rest. In 1860 they moved to Huntington county, Indiana. He has been a member of the M.E. church for 30 years, a faithful and true christian, always doing unto others as he wished to be done by. He was a devoted husband, a kind father, and was loved by all who knew him. After an illness of several weeks with asthma and dropsy he departed this life Nov. 4, 1895. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kemper, of Marion, in the M.E. church at Pleasant Plain, the text being Genesis, 2:24/ He leaves a ! wife, a number of relatives and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss. The remains were interred in the Mt. Etna cemetery.
