The door of earth was slosed Friday morning, January 17, 1902, to Morton Stanley. Eternity's gate stood ajar: he entered in. Morton G. Stanley was born May 11, ?, in Huntington county, Indiana. He was the youngest of a family of eight children, three of whom, together with father and mother, have preceded him to the spirit world, and five remain. He was a good citizen, a good neighbor, pleasant and sociable, especially to children, always having a good word for them. We miss him very much. He thought much of his sister, May. They two lived together in the old home for several years. "Ah! sad it is when one thus linked departs! When death, that mighty severer of true hearts sweeps through the halls so lately loud in mirth, And leaves pale sorrow weeping by the hearth." Service at the home Sunday, at 11 o'clock, and interment in the Taylor cemetery.
