Hammond. A former resident of Warren, Mrs. F.A. Hammond, well known to many of the Republican's readers who have lived here thirty years or more, died at the residence of her son, L.F. Hammond, in Stamford, Neb., on the 22nd ?, from paralysis. From the notice given in the Orleans (Neb.) Courier it is learned that her sisters, Mrs. N.E. Foreman, of Council Grove, Kansas, Mrs. M.D. Taylor and Mrs. Hannah Sprowl, of Warren, were present when she died, but did not arrive until she became unconscious, a few hours before passing away. Her age was 68 years. The Courier speaks very highly of the deceased, and says that during the time of her funeral business houses and the public schools were closed. The deceased's maiden name was Shaffer, and she was married to Alfred Hammond, in Warren. With him she moved to Nebraska thirty years ago, and raised a family there. Two years ago she and one daughter visited her sisters and other relatives and friends in Warren. The visit of her sisters, Mrs. Sprowl and Mrs. Taylor, was planned at that time, and it is greatly to be regretted that they did not arrive in time to see her alive and well.
