Mary Ann Jones, daughter of Enoch and Mary Jones, was born March 7, 1842, in Salamonie township, Huntington county, Indiana. She passed away suddenly and peacefully, Tuesday afternoon, at 1 o'clock, aged 59 years, 10 months and 7 days. She was one of a family of twelve children, five boys and seven girls. Two sisters have preceded her to the spirit world. On December 25, 1864, she was united in marriage with John A. Helm, five children were born to his union, two dying in infancy. She was again married, to John H. Kratz, Nov. 1, 1886, with whom she was happily living at the time of her sudden demise. She was for more than sixteen years a devoted and active member of the Christian church. Because of her kindness of heart, her fidelity to the truth, her love of Christ, her children will rise up and call her blessed, and the community will confess that one who was loved is no more. But "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb." Funeral services were held at the Christian church today at 11 o'clock, and interment was in the Taylor cemetery.
