She was a good companion, a devoted mother and a good neighbor. She leaves three children, two sons and a daughter, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure. Her children have the sympathy of the entire community. (also) Rachel A. Campbell, daughter of Garrett and Magdalene Heffner, wife of James F. Campbell, was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, March 13th, 1834 and died at her home in Van Buren township, Grant county, Indiana, Sunday morning, March 2nd, 1890, aged 55 years, 11 months and 19 days. About the year 1847 she removed with her parents to Jefferson township Huntington county, Indiana, where she resided until her marriage with James F. Campbell, in 1867, when she removed to Grant county. When about twenty years of age, she united with the Methodist church and was a member of that denomination until about five years ago, when she united with the Christian church. The deceased was a consistent christian, highly respected and beloved by all who knew her. She was ready and willing to go, having made her peace with God. The funeral was preached by Rev. Greenman, of Marion, and, notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, a large number of relatives and friends assembled to pay their last tribute to a loved one. She leaves one daughter and two sons to mourn her loss, her husband having preceded her to that bourne whence no traveller returneth. "After life's fitful fever, she sleeps well."
