    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/gh.2ADI/5426.1 Message Board Post: Am not researching this line, just trying to be helpful. The family was already in Indiana in the 1850 census for Huntington county, Dist 52, page 115. The name was misspelled as Bradshaw, and was headed by Calvin, 37, a farmer, born in NC, and included Emily, 30, NC, - James, 4, NC and Mary, 1, NC. In the 1860 census for Huntington county, Polk township, page 99, the family was headed by Calvin (again misspelled as Bradshar), 37, a farmer, NC, and included Emily, 39, NC, - James M, 13, NC, - Mary J, 11, NC, - Cyrus, 8, Ind, - Leonidas, 7, Ind, - Robert J, 6, Ind, - Elizabeth, 2, Ind, and Anna, 9/12, Ind. As you can see there was no one named Clark or Clarkson. Perhaps that was the one listed as Cyrus. Hope this helps. Don

    3. http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form The above link was provided by by buddy and recently discovered cuz' Gina Richardson. Using it along with some other info provided by others on this list and the book I had borrowed from my meeting's library. I have some info to share with you right now. MAPLE GROVE FRIENDS MEETING First, I was told by someone who wishes to remain un-named wanted to let everyone know "There had been a Quaker settlement in northern Huntington County, Dallas Twp. from about the mid 1850's until around 1900. Not quite sure of the dates right now. They called it Quaker Corners and Maple Grove Quaker Settlement. There is still a cemetery there with many Quaker's buried and the cemetery is still active." and this person also told me "to the INHUNT list about having relatives in the Maple Grove Cemetery that there is a reading of the cemetery in the Huntington Library. They can write to them if they do not live close to Huntington (send a SASE) and they will see if those names are listed in the reading. The library also has obituaries that might be of interest to these people." From Harold Clupper "Here's what little I have: My gg-gp, John C. Brown and Phebe E. Silver, were married in Preble Co., OH and moved to Maple Grove, a Friends community near Huntington, IN. Their daughter married into the Holloway family living at Lincolnville, Wabash Co., IN which is about 1 mile west of the Huntington county line. Their MM was Rush Creek and was established in 1854 - the same time as was the Maple Grove MM." Harold also has a picture and other info on the Lincolnville Friends Meeting, if you are interested. Just post a note to the list and he will see it. Several others have also e-mailed me or posted items about Maple Grove. above link info is this Feature Name: Maple Grove Cemetery Feature Type: cemetery State: Indiana County: Huntington USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Bippus 405404N 0853536W Map from this link had the cemetery at the intersection of 500n and 750w, nothing was indicated on my mapping software to concur. This meeting is not mentioned in the book I borrowed. MILO FRIENDS MEETING Feature Name: Milo Feature Type: populated place Elevation: 843 State County Indiana Huntington Indiana Grant USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Warren 403914N 0852806W The map from the above link has it at 1200s and about 100w in Huntington County or 700n and 1100e in Grant County. I also took a look at my 2005 streets and trips and it has it placed between IN218 and 1200s on 200w, Huntington County. The book I borrowed states that Milo meeting was laid down in 1917. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 2. In a message dated 4/10/2005 4:09:13 AM Central Standard Time, INHUNT-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: I am researching the surname RUPPERT or RUPERT. I don't have a lot of specifics right now. Mainly Harry Joseph Ruppert, born 1875 in Roanoke, my great grandfather. Beth Gemeinhart Beth, Maybe your Harry Rupert was a nephew of Josiah? Perhaps your research needs to got over to Mahoning Co., Ohio. Take care Marilyn From Biographical Memoirs of Huntington County, 1901, pages 642-643 Josiah Rupert, a thrify and experienced farmer of Jackson township, Huntington county, Indiana, was born in Mahoning county, Ohio, November 9, 1848, and is a son of David and Lair (Fox) Rupert who were the parents of eight children. Josiah Rupert was six years of age when he was brought to Indiana by his parents who settled on the farm in Huntington county, Jackson township, where they died when the son was fifteen years old. Josiah had received a very good common-school education, had been well drilled in farm work, and was thus prepared, when the sad and double affliction overtook him, to earn his livelihood by hiring out as a farm hand, an occupation which he followed two years. He and his brothers then took possession of the homestead and cultivated the land for two years, when Josiah traded his interest in this estate for forty acres in the neighborhood, paying about six hundred dollars in cash besides, and from the forest cleared up the land and settled on it. From this beginning, by hard work and judicious management, he has increased his possessions to six hundred and forty-three acres, all of which lies in Jackson township except one hundred and sixty acres in Whitley county. To the marriage of Mr. Rupert with Elizia J. Dinius have been born five children, in the following order: Lester M., a farmer; Della L.; Ora W.; Earl C.; and Pearl B. In politics Mr. Rupert is a Republican , but finds little time to devote to party interest beyond informing himself of the issues of the day and quietly depositing his ballot.

    3. I was just working on info on this subject, and yahoo flipped out on me again so I lost it all. So I'm very aggervated right now. There is not much on Huntington Co itself in this book, but I was doing surrounding counties of Huntington for all of you. I am going to be in Richmond this Saturday but I am not sure of the hours of this Lilly Library, I will go and do some digging for Huntington County meetings and will get back with all of you on this subject. Andrea I may switch my e-mail for this list, if so you will be able to contact me through andrea.genealogy@pceaze.com if this problem continues with yahoo. We visited the cemetery of the mtg. near Andrews a few years ago. Eli Jones and his parents, Micajah and Sarah, are supposedly buried there, but we could not locate their gravestones. Susan Carlson
