Fisher died at his home in Wayne Twp. last Thursday evening from Bright's disease. Mr. Fisher was very sick early in the fall, but recovered sufficiently to go to Tennessee where he was sured. He returned from the South about 3 weeks ago, a well man, as he thought, but on the way home contracted a severe cold. He immediately relapsed into a worse condition that before, and passed away as stated. His funeral was held at Mt. Etna, Saturday, conducted by Odd Fellows.

On Monday, at Bluffton, Norton Betts, aged twenty-three, an employe in the local Clover Leaf yards, was crushed to death between two cars. He was standing on the ladder of one car and was caught between it and a car on an adjacent parallel tract. He lived less than an hour. Almost every bone in his body was broken.

Peter Gundy was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, December 29, 1831. His parents were Noah and Anna (Line) Gundy, the former a native of Pannsylvania and the latter of Fairfield county, Ohio--both of English descent. He was raised on the farm on which his father was reared, and at the age of twenty-three years began to work for himself, by engaging to work on a farm near Fort Wayne, Ind., by the month. In 1856 he took a trip to Missouri and remained one summer, but returned to Fort Wayne about the first of February following. On the 8th of that month he was married to Miss Mary A. Miller, of Fort Wayne. This union was blessed with six children: Ida A., who died when six years of age; Florence A., Ulysses A., Elizabeth, Sarah C., and an infant who died in infancy unnamed. Mrs. Gundy is a member of the U.B. church. Mr. Gundy enlisted in Co C. 54th Regiment, Ind. Vol. under Capt. L.C. Beckford, and took part in the battle of Vicksburg. He was mustered out in Dec. 1863, and returned home. He served in the army about 14 months, during which time he was in prison about three months. He came to Huntington county in 1861, and settled on the farm where he lived up to the time of his death, which occurred Dec. 25, 1901, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 26 days. Funeral services will be held on Friday at Otterbein church and interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery, near Warren.

She was a resident of the county about thirty-seven years, and was of the sterling class of people whose inestimable qualities are a great factor in the moral and intellectual development of a community. One who knew her well said: "She was a mother to the whole neighborhood." She leaves a husband, two sons, Frank, of this city, and Hart, of Union township/ The daughters are Mrs. Belle Anson, of Mardenis; Mrs. McPherson and Mrs. Hagler, of Warren; Mrs. L. Kline, of Connorsville; Mrs. Chas. Von Canon, of New Castle, and Mrs. W.E. Lawyer of this city. Funeral Saturday at Union church. Also in this issue. Mr. and Mrs. M.D. McPherson, O.E. Hagler and wife, accompanied by their children, attended the funeral of Mrs. Guthrie in Union twp. last Saturday. Deceased was the mother of Mrs. McPherson & Mrs. Hagler, and was a very excellent christian woman.

The startling and sad news was received at Warren yesterday morning that Ernest Bringe had died in a hospital at Grand Crossing, Colorado, of typhoid fever. Mr. Bringe and Frank Ray went to the Wyoming oil field last September, and were engaged there drilling oil wells. The message stated that Bringe's remains would be shipped to his home near Toledo. The deceased was well known in Warren having been employed in the oil field the past three or four years. He was a model of physical strength and young manhood, quiet, peaceable, and well liked by all who knew him.

This morning, about eight o'clock, Elmer Sprowl was instantly killed by falling on the engine bed, under the crank shaft, of a gas engine of the Raper Hagler farm, about four miles east of Warren. 'Lige McElhany was with him but was outside of the building at the time and did not see him when the accident occurred. The deceased was married, but had no children. He was a son of John W. Sprowl, of near Liberty Center. The Warren Weekly News, Thursday, January 2, 1902 Obituary. Jonathan Elmer Sprowl was born December 6, 1872 and died December 26, 1901, aged 29 years and 20 days. He leaves a wife, father, mother, one sister and one brother, a sister and a brother having gone on before. He married Sarah Celestia Fudge August 25, 1900, proving to her a faithful and loving husband until death. Service at Salem church Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment at Woodlawn.

An epidemic of suicides prevalent in Montpelier. The latest is the suicide of Thomas Taliot, a well-known oil man and gauger for the Standard Oil Company, who took carbolic acid. He and his brother and sister had been having trouble and his arrest was sought on an affidavit signed by his beother, charging him with assault on his sister. Marshal Sieppy went to the house to arrest him, and his wife paid the fine, saying he was not at home. At the time he was in his room dead, but his wife did not know it.

Van Buren News: "While working about a gasometer, on the Mort Hummel farm, about four miles north west of town, last Monday (13th), William Pilcher, a young man, was enveloped in flames by a gas explosion. He was fatally burned before the eyes of his companion, John Yaunt. He died Tuesday morning. The victim and Yaunt was turning the engine wheel. There was an accumulation of gas, and a spark from the ignition tube caused the explosion. Yaunt tore off some of Pilcher's clothing and rolled him in the snow, but the flames had already done their work. The unfortunate boy was fifteen years of age."
