Hi Cindy, AB Tharp is Armstead Bowen Tharp, born Jun 12, 1820 in VA. Both of his parents and his only brother died when he was a young boy, so someone brought him to Indiana to live with a distant relative. He married Irena Ricketts. Cindy, Margaret was the daughter of Jonathan & Ruth (Ruse) Ruble. Margaret was born in 1843 in Clinton Co., Ohio & died 5 May 1898 in Jackson Twp., Wells Co., Indiana. Margaret is buried with her husband, John Beard, in Woodlawn Cemetary, Warren. I have nothing on Malissa Ann Ruse other than she married John Beard on 19 Aug. 1848 in Huntington Co., Indiana and apparently died prior to the 1850 Census.

Lookin for information on Smarts and Landons. I know that they are from the Huntington area because my grandmother Caroline Landon is the daughter of a Loretta Smart and James (Jim) Landon. Lorettas fathers name is Harvey Smart and her mothers name was Eva Shunkweiler- - not sure about the spelling of evas last name. I have dates for all the names but have reached a dead end and only have the obituary for Loretta Smart as that she died in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. If anyone can get obituaries and other details for these names and more it would be greatly appreciated. I'm researching my husband's family of Kennedys. His grandfather was John "Mac" Kennedy, born in the late 1800's in Warren, Huntington Co. The Mac may be a middle name or a nickname. He married Doris Lillian Young b1898, (daughter of Frank Young and Dora Faust) in Warren. Doris died there in 1938. I also have information that there may have been a Skiles/Skyles surname in the family. Doris Young was not the mother of my husband's father, she was a stepmother. My husband's father doesn't remember much about his relatives, but does remember visiting people in Franklin, Indiana. Familiar to anyone??........

There was a Daniel Shively who settled in Dallas Township about 1842. Jacob Shively was an early settler in Rock Creek Township, about 1835. There was a merchant named H. G. Shively in the town of Markle in 1879. Perhaps one or all of these are connected to your family.

Looking for any info on the parent's of James Albert Shively, who are Samuel and Esther (whittingham). Samuel was born in Ohio, maybe Pa, in 1840. James Albert died in Huntington, in 1945. Thank you--- Pam Shively

Evidently Shank Cemetery needs to be added to the data base for cemeteries in Huntington Co. This is a reply that I received - Mayne Road and Shank Cemetery are in Huntington County. Directions to Shank Cemetery:  head east (actually southeast) out of Roanoke on Station Road.  Mayne Road crosses at a four-way stop.  Turn right.  Soon the road will swing left and then right.   As you prepare for the swing right you will see the sign for Shank Cemetery in front of you. I mistakenly said Abraham's daughter Almira wasn't married by 1880. It was her brother William still at home in 1880 along with his little sister Frances. Not sure where sister Almira was: dead, married or not in Kansas?

Hi Cousin, Sorry it took so long for me to find your queries regarding my gg-grandmother Almira Cary. According to my mother, Almira died in 1919. I haven't tried to verify this, but know she attended my aunt's wedding in March, 1917. Almira was married to Heyman Samuel Klingel, whose bio is available at the Huntington Co, IN GenWeb site. They were divorced during the 1860s. He remarried and died in 1903. Almira's daughter was Lydia Jane (Klingel ) Shipps (1847-1929), whose daughter Cora Shipps married my grandfather John Hamilton Rayle. I've found the genealogy for Abraham's son William (your g-grandfather) but I'm also looking for information on an Almira Cary (Abraham's daughter). Perhaps you can help me. I too am searching out the Swaidner line in my genealogy. Edward J. Swaidner is my great great grandfather. I know that he was living in Ft. Wayne, IN as of 1902. I have a program from that year with a photo of his son for a benefit concert. Sadly his son, Edward Jr., died in a swimming accident in September 1910 in Butte MT. Edward's daughter, Amy Swaidner, is my great grandmother. She met and married Everet Clarence Teter in 1906 and they settled in Oakland, CA. Amy died from Typhoid fever while on vacation in San Diego, CA in September 1920. Amy and Everet had one child, Everett Floyd Teeters. According to an obituary that I have from Edward Jr.'s death, Edward Sr. was living in Colorado Springs in 1910. There is no mention of his mother in the obituary however from Amy's death certificate, her mother's name is listed as Lena Johnson. I have one photograph of Edward Sr. but I have no idea when or where it was taken. Amy Swaidner was born in 1887, ! Edward Jr., in 1890. I would guess that their parents would have to be at least 20+ years older. If any of these names sound familier or you know of Edward Sr. and his wife, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Seeking additional data on the family of John A Eaton and his wife Elizabeth McClara. They were married 13 February 1889 in Clark county. Elizabeth Eaton appears on the 1910 census index for Huntington county on page 76, Huntington township, 2nd ward. If anyone has access and can tell me what is listed for her I'd sure appreciate it. I show they had a daughter Helen (no verification) and a son born in Clark Co., IN on 07 June 1889.
