Kokomo Dispatch, Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, Sunday Jan 31, 1926. Charles Bennett, a former resident of Greentown, and remembered by many of his friends here, found his brother, Benjamin Bennett, after a separation of fifty-three years. At the close of the Civil war, Ben left their home in Kentucky and went West and was never heard from again. After a few years Charles moved to Indiana, where he lived near North Vernon, and later at Greentown, where he had many friends and relatives. At the death of his wife, he went to California with his son, where they now live in San Diego. Upon going into business at that place they rented a suite of rooms at a hotel. About a month ago two men came and rented rooms just across the hall from them. Three weeks later one of the men lost his footing on the top step at the post office building and fell. He died a few days later in the hospital. Charles did not think much about it until one day while he was writing a letter to his grandson in Greentown, he happened to glance at a paper on which the stationery was lying and noticed the death of Benjamin Bennett. Upon Investigation, Charles found it was the same man who had lived across the hall and also that it was his brother, who had gone West fifty three years before. Mrs. Bert Cohee is a daughter of Charles Bennett.
