I"ve been looking for my Smith's for many years, and I know they were in Howard County from 1870 at least through 1890 and perhaps beyond that. The thing that interests me about a Nancy Smith is that like many families of that era, they tend to name their children in certain patterns. My Nancy is actually Nancy Mullis, but her daughter, who was my great grandmother, married Thomas Smith in Fayette County. They moved to Howard County sometime before or by 1870. Their daughter, my grandmother, was named after her grandmother, Nancy Mullis. She had five brothers and one sister, and it's entirely possible that one of her brothers may have had a daughter who was named after his sister, and his grandmother. Like many Smith families, these Smith's have been almost impossible to trace, so I generally respond to any posts I see that have the same Smith names that I'm looking for. If you do find any information on your Nancy's family, I'd appreciate hearing from you. In the meantime, I'll keep the name Arbuckle in my notes and watch for that name. Jules
