I don't have the actual record, but the date came from the Howard County, Indiana Idex to Marriage Records 1844 - 1920; Book C-5; Page 47. Are you related on the SWAFFORD side or the STONE side? If you are interested, I have information going back a couple of more generations on the STONEs. Martha had 14 or 15 siblings. Her sister, Josephine (md. Isaac DAVIS), is my great-great-grandmother. I also have a (DAVIS) family picture that was taken about 1911. Josephine and Sarah, another one of their sisters, was in the picture. Not sure if Martha and Clayton would be in their or not as some of the people aren't identified. Do you know why they moved to Pulaski County? Just curious, as quite a bit of the STONE descendants still live in Howard County today.

She and Hiram had a son, Albert Darrow, and I have been trying to track him. But also to connect the Darrows with their relatives, in hopes of solving some other genealogical problems - in particular the burial sites of several Darrow children (of Hiram's brother's family) who probably died in Logansport around 1871-79. Is Elenora related to any of your relatives? If so, perhaps I will find Albert living with one of the Hunter families... Anne

Other than census records, I do not have much information on her either. According to the census records, she would have been born about 1868, which would have made her about 16 when she got married. Do you think this could be the same one? If so, her parents are Daniel STONE and Rachel COOK and they had about 15 children. Their marriage record is one of the items that I have on my list to get next time I go to the courthouse. The index that I have seen lists his name as C. M. SWEFFERD and it only had one Martha STONE listed. Stacey [email protected]

I am looking for anyone who might know of a family Bible for the Hinkle family. Supposedly the Bible I'm interested in has a notation in it about my great grandmother, Nancy L. Hinkle (m. Pickett). The story is that she was traded as an infant to the Hinkle family for supplies her real parents needed to continue traveling west. At first I doubted this story but my cousin said he saw it himself at her funeral and that her "sister" brought it with and showed her kids and grandkids. Apparently Grandma never knew the truth about her origin. The fact that my cousin saw it himself and, in thinking about it, she never looked anything like her brothers and sisters - makes me believe it's true. If you know of any Hinkles, please ask around to see if they know of such a story or the existence of a Hinkle Bible that can be checked. I know one of her sisters was named of Bessie and brothers, one by the name of Brie. Shirley
