His parents were John and Eliza (CEASE) GORDON. In the mid-1850s, when George was a young boy, he moved to Indiana with his family. I have 2 potential wives for George. He may have married Elizabeth COMERFORD from Bunker Hill, IN. He may also have married Mary SWEET, originally from NY. The 1880 census locates George and Mary (Sweet) in Kokomo, Howard Co, IN. George was in the lumber business. I have been unable to find any information about his children who are listed in the 1880 census. All were born in Indiana; Bessie, the youngest, was born in Kokomo but I am not sure about the rest: Ida M (abt 1868) James (abt 1870) Carrie (abt 1872) Rosa (abt 1874) John (abt 1876) Bessie (abt 1879) Ida M (abt 1868) If you have any information about George or his children, I would appreciate your sharing it. Thanks. I might add that all of George's siblings moved to Indiana in the 1850s. I have found a couple but am still looking for JOHN GORDON (b 1842) MARK GORDON (b 1847) WILLIAM GORDON (b 1844) MARY A (b 1852) It is always possible that some of these siblings came to Howard Co as well.

If you don't get any takers, the Kokomo-Howard County Library has an excellent service. You can email them your requests at http://www.kokomo.lib.in.us/genealogy/index.html#research There is a $10 research fee, but that can cover several obits and $0.20 per page copied. They respond very quickly.
Thank you, I'll try them. Luis [email protected] wrote: If you don't get any takers, the Kokomo-Howard County Library has an excellent service. Is there anyone on this list that is able to look up a couple of obituaries for me? I am looking for Thaddeus Beal, he died June 15th, 1944, and he was buried a couple of days later. Also his sister Nellie Jones who died September 17th, 1920 and she was buried on the 20th according to crown point cemetery where they are both buried. Thanks a ton, Luis Beal --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software

I have quite a bit of information on him but nothing on his parents, except a family legend that one parent was from Germany and the other from Ireland and that they had emigrated to America about 1825. Family lore also says that Isaac was orphaned at about 14 years old. His death certificate lists his mother's maiden name as Detric, but that may not be reliable. I have done quite a bit of searching in Pettis County Missouri where he married but haven't found any clue about his parents. If you would like to exchange information, let me know.
