Hi, I am planning a trip to the library in Kokomo tomorrow, I will look and see if there is an obituary there for her, they have a copy of all obituaries I believe.....I will let you know what I find. I am not positive Mildred is his wife but his wife was named Mildred and she is the only Mildred on the Social Security Death Index. I am hoping to find a descendant of theirs only I have no proof they had children. Anything would be helpful. I do know there was a Donald Alfrey living in Kokomo and there is still a phone listing but the number has been disconnected. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Canter, Widener, Rice Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Fi.2ADE/1209 Message Board Post: an 1876 plat map of Howard County shows L. Canter living next door to A. Widener. L. Canter was either Levi or Lewis Canter (probably Levi, because I think Lewis was already gone from the county). They were brothers, sons of Catherine Widener Canter. Catherine's first husband was killed in the Mexican War in 1847. She moved to Howard County as a widowed mother of 5 in 1852. My guess is that she had relatives already in Howard County, probably very close relatives, like say a brother. (She later married John B Rice of Ervin Twp) Can anyone tell me about A. Widener; a first name might be helpful. And any other family information. Could Catherine Widener Canter Rice be his aunt?

My Clarke/Clark family shares cemetery space with a Jackson family. I believe a female Jackson married one of my male Clarks/Clarkes. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Fi.2ADE/1208 Message Board Post: The Historic Atlas of Indiana series may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Indiana places. Each Atlas CD consists of a series of 8 or 9 bordering counties making up 1 of 11 Zones that depict all 92 Indiana counties. Each Zone Atlas contains 400 dpi scanned images of vintage 1876 county maps that are organized and presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Each county map may include the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms * and much, much more The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary.
