County lines aren't drawn on the ground and unless they were very familiar with the area, they could've written down the wrong information. I found one of my Langley families listed both in Tipton County and Howard County in the same year. They were visited by two different census takers, one in each county, and both took slightly different information, like one took middle initials, one didn't. There were other differences that leads me to believe they each spoke to a different member of the household when they visited. This family lived right on the Howard / Tipton County line. This is probably no different than typical spelling errors found in census records. Those were probably very long days, so I'm not surprised at the mistakes that were made. Well, that's my take on a possible reason for the listing of a Green Township, Howard County. I hope this helps. Rich Langley Kokomo, Indiana

    3. Hello, Dee: I went to Ancestry Com and cut and pasted the below information. I checked my source. Although, I have seen the microfilm of the original document at the Fort Wayne, IN, library. I can't figure it out. I don't think my grandfather moved. I think the County Line moved. He settled in Point Isabel, IN, which is in Grant County, Greene TSP. But in 1850, the census has him in Howard County, Greene TSP. I have tried to find out if the County Line moved, but I have not been able to discover any information.
