He is said to be the illegitimate son of Samuel Boone (s/o John Hughes and Lucy Daniel Boone). William came to Oregon in 1851, and married Mary McReynolds, who came across in 1852. Would Harrison County have require a bastardy bond or similar instrument if William was in fact Samuel's son?
