It will cost one dollar (plus postage). The guardianship information came from a book called, "Harrison County, Indiana Guardianships, July 1817 to February 1853" compiled by the Hoosier Elm Chapter of the DAR. I don't have much experience in finding guardianship records, but will give it a try if you want. Each record (or page) will cost one dollar. There won't be many pages. The 1836 guardianship record mentioning Casper can be in Probate Order Book C (1829-1839). I'm not exactly certain which probate book contains the 1844 record mentioning the widow Frances Eslinger, possibly Probate Order Book D, the DAR book is unclear. Anyway, I also looked through the book, "Harrison County, Indiana Marriage Affidavits and Consents, 1809-1865" compiled by Walter Beanblossom and found the following three Eslinger records: 1) John M. Armstrong and Elizabeth Eslinger. Age proven by Wiley Eslinger. Marriage affidavit dated August 15, 1836. They appear to have been married that same day. 2) Nimrod Martin and Harriet Eslinger. Age proven by George Austin. Marriage affidavit dated April 6, 1850. "Nimrod Martin" and "Harriet A. Eslinger" were married April 7, 1850. 3) Benj. R. Cummins and Mary Eslinger. Consent of father, Hasper Eslinger given by John Eslinger. Marriage affidavit dated May 2, 1831. "Benj. R. Cummins" and "Mary Eslinger" were married May 2, 1831 by Hays McCallen. Notice that "Hasper Eslinger" must really be "Casper Eslinger. Mary must not have been of age to marry, but her father (through son John) consented for her to marry. Please let me know if you want me to copy the marriage record and guardianship records. The courthouse charges a dollar per page. I will try to go there sometime this week. I would prefer not to copy the marriage affidavits because they are difficult to locate. Jesse Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
