Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Di.2ADE/1412.1439.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hi, Karen! I had a bit of luck! This is what was sent to me: 1. GEORGE1 BARGER was born Abt. 1791 in PA, and died 1859 in MO. He married SUSANNAH SHELMAN. She was born Abt. 1795 in PA, and died 1846 in IN. Notes for GEORGE BARGER: JOHN BARGER, an old resident of the county was born in Breckinridge County, Ky., June 2, 1812, and is one of twelve children born to George Barger and Susan Shelman, both of whom were natives of Pennsylvania. The father who was a farmer lived in his native county at the time of his marriage, and did not remove to Perry County till about 1837. His wife died in 1846, and after his second marraige he removed to Missouri where he died about 1859. John remained at home working for his father until he was twenty-six years old, when, in company with his brother Andrew, he bought the home farm and commenced his career as a farmer for himself. He and his brother worked together about four years when he sold his interest to Andrew, and came to this county where he bought the farm upon which he has since resided. August 6, 1848, he wedded Lavica Davis, a native of Spencer County, Ind., who died February 11, 1868, having borne him nine children, seven of whom are living. They are Mary L! ., now Mrs. Eli Cronin, William D., Levi S., Daniel W., John F., Winfield S. and America J., the last two of whom are at home. In connection with farming Mr. Barger operated a saw-mill on Deer Creek for about ten years. Besides his home trade he shipped large amounts of lumber to New Orleans. He has been financially successful, and now owns 520 acres of good land. "History of Warrick, Spencer and Perry Counties, Indiana - Tobin Township" by Goodspeed Bros. & Co. - published in 1885 Don't know if this is the "John" you are searching for or not. Let me know! Carol

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Di.2ADE/1412.1439.1 Message Board Post: Hi! I, too am looking for ancesters. My great grandfather was Levi Shelman Barger. He was born Nov. 12, 1854 somewhere in Indiana. (I believe he had an older brother named William, but don’t know if there were other siblings.) Levi married Cornelia Ann Ray on Mar. 22, 1885 in Perry, IN. They had four children: Chester Clure Barger (born Apr.22, 1887), Floyd Atlee Barger (born Feb. 24, 1890), Julius Irl Barger (born Dec. 27, 1892),and my grandfather, Russell Shelman Barger (born Dec. 16, 1895). Levi Barger homsteaded in Kansas and was granted a Land Patent (signed by President Benjamin Harrison) on Feb. 9, 1892. The "homstead" was near Brewster, KS. Russell S. Barger was born in Colby, KS, and we believe that is where Levi died. Cemetery records for Thomas County are not completely transcribed as far as I can tell. Thought the Indiana link might mean something!?!

    1. RADCLIFF & ELLIS Marriage Certificate
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" the original marriage certificate belonging to John D. RADCLIFF and his bride Sarah F. ELLIS who were married in Harrison County, Indiana on the 11th of October 1866. The ceremony was performed by Henry MULVANY. Based on limited research I believe the groom is John David RADCLIFF b. 4 March 1844 to parents Joseph B. & Martha RADCLIFF. John died 9 August 1910 at Posey, IN. The bride is Sarah Francis ELLIS b. 2 March 1848 in Harrison Co., IN to parents Richard R. ELLIS and Nancy S. WHITMAN. Sarah died 21 August 1926. John D. & Sarah F. RADCLIFF were living in Osage, Kansas with three children, Mary Ettie age 12, John W. age 10, and Nancy E. RADCLIFF age 6, during the 1880 census. It appears the family moved from Indiana to Kansas sometime between 1870 and 1874. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old family treasure can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
