I posted this last week but didn't get confirmation and no reply - so will try again. Are there any Carr's out there that used to be Ingrams? Leonard Ingram b: abt. 1804 in Hawkins Co., TN. Married: abt. 1818 - unknown wife name. Died: 8/30/1839 in Paoli, Orange Co., In. Was living in Floyd Co., IN, in 1830. There is a Lenard in the 1820 Harrison Co., In. Federal Census. His last name is spelled INGRIM on page 66. Next he appears in the 1830 Floyd Co., IN. Federal Census. Paoli, Orange Co. Indiana: Friday August 30, 1839. Leonard Ingram, true American, died in this county on the 23rd instant. There was a number of people that died on the same day. I do not know the accident or incident. I did write to Paoli, Indiana for a probate or will for a Lenard Ingram but they found nothing for him. On 25 JAN 1847 Leonard's son Wiley sold his dad's portion of Andrew's estate to Lewis Ingram for $6.00. A Stewart, Clement, Riley and Emily are all entioned as minor heirs of Leonard Ingram, deceased in their grandfather Andrew Ingram's probate records in Floyd Co. IN. This document was dated 9 August 1847. In the marriage records book, Vol. 1 A-L there is record of a Dicia Ingram marrying a J. Carr on June 9, 1845. Is this Lenard's wife remarrying? In a book "School Enumeration Harrison County, Indiana for 1846 and 1847" there is a James Carr listed with who appear to be Lenard's children. Lemen 16 yrs., (probably Clement), Riley 13 yrs, and Emely 9 yrs. Last name of children spelled: Ingrim 1850 45th Dist. Harrison Co., In. Fed. Census Pg. 409: James Carr 63 yrs. old. Dice 46: Children: Rilley Carr 12 yrs.,(did James adopt these Ingram children?), Emily Carr 11 yrs, Wm. Carr 9 years and James Carr 2 years. 1850 Greenville Twp., Floyd Co., In. I, too, am searching for his ancestors. Just recently I believe I found a brother of James named Richard. I found him living 5 families from James in the 1840 Harrison County census. He was born in 1799-1800 and lived at least through 1880. I'm hoping I can find his death date in order to get a death certificate. As far as James is concerned, he was alive in 1880, but the trouble is he moved with a couple of his sons to Meade County, KY. That makes getting a death certificate next to impossible. I have found his sons in Meade County in 1900, but apparently James had died between 1880 and 1900. Here is the URL to my family homepage: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/c/h/Robert-L-Schneider/index.html It hasn't been updated yet to reflect all the census work. Richard Adams was the brother of my 3rd gr grandfather James Adams. Richard was born in Kentucky about 1799-1800. He moved with the whole family to Harrison County before 1840. He lived there the rest of his life. His brother James moved to Meade County, KY between 1870 and 1880. I have to believe Richard died after 1880. In 80, he was living in the household of his son George. I'm especially interested in finding an exact date of death. If it occurred after 82, I might be able to get a death certificate from the county. In any event, I would like to know specific location of birth and parents' names. Thanks in advance! Pat, sometimes it is good to go back over our research. I think I found some interesting connections. I am showing Joseph McCrary b abt 1748 married to Anna Powell 1768 'Culpeper Co' VA. It appears that Anna had a sister 'Miriam Powell' who was the first wife of Joshua Lamb, stepfather of 'Betsy', wife of Rev War Vet William Henson of Randolph Co NC and of Harrison/Martin Co IN. It also appears Joseph McCrary and Anna Powell-McCrary (who moved to Rowan/Orange/Randolph Co NC area) are the parents of Catherine McCrary who married Joseph Henson III, son of Joseph Henson JR (remember Joseph Henson JR left a WILL dated Nov 16, 1842 Randolph Co NC that you were not able to find), grandson of Joseph Henson and Anne Rosse-Henson ... on Oct 18, 1818 Randolph Co NC (bondsman 'Jesse Henson'). Also, it appears that Joseph and Anna McCrary had a son John McCrary who showed up in 1812 Randolph Co NC. John McCrary was also listed in the 1820 Wayne Co KY Census (along with Jesse Henson) and in the 1840 Crawford Co IN Census ... must be connected to Rev War Vet Jesse Henson somehow; was Jesse his brother-in-law?). Also, John McCrary and John Henson (Jesse's brother?) witnessed the WILL of David Fouts dated 1817 Harrison Co IN (David Fouts listed in 1800 Randolph Co NC Census). An Eli McCrary witnessed a DEED in 1828 'Martin Co' IN for a Samuel Berry. A Sarah McCrary married Isham Stroud of Randolph Co NC on Aug 24, 1811 in Harrison Co IN. There certainly appears to be a connection by marriage of the McCrarys and Hensons, does'nt it? Needs more serious research when we, or the other Henson researchers, have time. 'R.E.'
