What are the chances of finding some kind of death record or obituary for the death of Napoleon Bonaparte Miller who died in 1860 in Corydon, Indiana according to family history? Thanks Madeleine
Madeleine, I found an 1885 obituary in the New Albany paper for John Thomas. This was through the Indiana State library. You can check what they hold online and if they have those newspapers, youn do an inre-library loan on them. I did that for mine. I have a question? Was this person Catholic? If so iI may be able to help you find those records as my Father's people wre Catholic and I have the church vital records from the late 1850's. Where is your "Miller " buried. Is he in Old Crossroads cemetery? Please contact me if I can be of help at patriciagrimm2001@yahoo.com. i don't live in Indiana, but have been there many times and know some of the area . I'm trying to idenify some of the other Davis lines in my family. For the following family: Henry T. Davis, husband, b. 1860 Addie M. Davis (nee Griffee), wife, b. 1875 Myrtle Davis, b. 1894 in KY Frederick Davis, b. 1895 in KY Roy Eldon Davis, b. 1989 in KY Mary Davis, b. 1902 in KY Robert Davis, b. 1905 in KY John Davis, b. 1907 in KY I am trying to find any info for Myrtle, Frederick, Mary, Robert, or John. All I have for any of them is Myrtle; she married Wm T. Hurt abt 1910 in Breckinridge co, KY. Roy is my g-grandfather and I have him pretty well documented, but his siblings seem to disappear after the 1910 census. The Davis' seemed to have been centralized in Meade County but may have spread out so I'm trying adjacent counties now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone have the ability to look up the actual record of marriage for the below mentioned people (my g-grandparents)? Just wondering if there is anymore info to be obtained than what is listed: Name: Roy E Davis Spouse Name: Nell O Portlock Marriage Date: 12 Sep 1919 Marriage County: Harrison Birth Date: 13 Jun Age: 21 Source Title 1: Harrison County, Indiana Source Title 2: Index to Marriage Record 1850 - 1920 Inclusive Vol Source Title 3: W. Hi Cheryl, I'm not sure I can help you specifically on Daniel Leffler, but, for what it's worth, I am descended from Elizabeth (Hewitt) Leffler Simler (1745-1823), my g-g-g-gm. She was first married to Capt. Jacob Leffler and had six Leffler children. She then married Hans Casper Simler (1751-1802), the immigrant, and had one child John Jasper Simler, who is my g-g-gf. Following Hans Casper Simler's death in 1802, Elizabeth moved to Harrison Co. IN with her Leffler children and John Jasper Simler. Much of my Leffler info comes from The Bromwell Genealogy, by Henrietta Bromwell, Denver CO, written many years ago, but I don't have the exact year from my xeroxed pages. Also, a valuable source has been "The Dutch Fork Settlement", by Raymond Martin Bell, deceased historian of the United Methodist Church in Western PA. The Dutch Fork Settlement was in Donegal Twp. of Washington Co PA. I'll be glad to try to answer any questions regarding these families. I do have the will of Elizabeth Hewitt Leffler Simler. You can email me off-list if you wish. Cheryl The LDS shows Daniel born in Shelby County KY, father Peter born about 1780 in Washington Co, PA, and his parents are listed as George Leffler and Christina Phillebaum. It shows George born about 1751 in Berks Co, PA, married 1778 in Donegal Township, Washington Co, PA, and died 8 Mar 1831 in Harrison Co, Indiana. Jacob Leffler is shown as the father of George. Information on the mothers is listed as well. Go here: www.familysearch.org enter Daniel Leffler and the year 1805. If the information offered is correct, you should be able to verify it. As an aside, the 'beta' search: http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0 is super for later dates, including images of documents. Hope this helps.
