I do have deeds for the farm they moved to in Meade. They appear to have left Harrison in the mid 1770s. They weren't any help unfortunately in establishing the parentage of James Adams. My James Adams was born in 1814 in Nelson, KY. His second marriage license states that his parents were born in Nelson, too. There were many Adams who moved into Nelson in the 1780s. We just can't get a connection established between James and all those other Adams. It's also been hard to establish when the family left Nelson for Harrison County IN. There is a Richard Adams in Harrison who definitely was from Nelson, born about 1799. As tantalizing as it is, we just can't get evidence to relate James with Richard. So, it's just a mystery. That's why I was hoping to get those 1877 deeds in Harrison, from Book AW. I just wish the LDS had microfilmed that book. If this is the Benjamin Adams I believe it is, he is not related to my James Adams. A few years ago, a cousin and I tried to establish a connection but ruled it out. My James Adams had parents born in Nelson County, KY; he himself was born in Nelson County, KY. There were many Adams's in Nelson, but so far, we can't connect James up with any of them. Census records show birthplace of Ohio. I show another family LOVE surname in the county during that 1820 census with head of household transcribed as "Baned" Love. Reviewing the original document it looks more like Daniel Love. Does anyone have any parentage information on Orpha Love? I have a history question, if her date of birth was 1808 and they did live in Harrison County, would that have been listed on Ohio as place of birth or Indiana, since Indiana was not a state in 1808? This site also has wills, I think they are the wills that were attached to the documentation, probably showing that the person the land's name was in was dead, etc. I didn't see ADAMS in there. I looked at the Bureau of Land Management Bureau site http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Default.asp?Tab1=2&f1=IL&f2=&f3= and they didn't have Kentucky at all. I know they aren't going to put the 13 colonies on there and since Kentucky came from there??? West Virginia isn't on there either. I'm interested in obtaining some Harrison County deeds. They pertain to my 3rd gr grandfather, James Adams. I suspect these land sales were preparatory to the family leaving Harrison for Meade County, KY. I intended to obtain these deeds through the LDS microfilms, but my series of deeds was not microfilmed. So I actually have a few questions, hoping that somebody out there can answer them. These deeds were executed between J.W. Adams (grantor) and Leander Adams (grantee); 1877, Bk. AW 3. All these transactions show up in the deed index, but the LDS didn't microfilm this particular book. Not sure what's up. The help I'm looking for is which address should I use? To whom should I write? How much does a deed copy cost? Thanks for any help! Robert Schneider Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Julie, Contact me at patriciagrimm2001@yahoo.com.I may have those films on permanent loan at the LDS library here in town. I can check Saturday. On Ancestry I found several female Lahue's in Harrison co. The earliest was Nancy Lahue to William Crawford on 30 Oct.1817. There several others up to about 1847 on this record. I looked at all three sites on ancestry and she is the earliest one. i will see if I have that film here. We have a computer copier and I can read the film on that. Makes it greatly improved in quality. Julie, I looked through the three Indiana marriage records online on Ancestry, I foudn the following. For May 7,1827; John Rush and Mary Ausburn Louday Layfield amd Elizabeth Ryan For May 6,1827 Lyman Leslie and Lavina Boone Julie, Contact me at patriciagrimm2001@yahoo.com. and give me the film number you were looking at. I have access to a lot of the Harrison Co. marriage films at our local LDS library. If it is here I can see what I can find. I have deep roots in Harrison Co. I was back there in June of 2008. Hi - does anyone have the Harrison county marriage book, I think it's 1809-1830? Hi, I am new to the list. Is anyone researching the EDWARDS in Harrison County, IN? If so, do you know where they came from? I've got an Elizabeth LeHew/LaHue who married a Peter Edwards before 1787, in Shenandoah or Frederick county, VA (he's a bondsman on her sister's marriage bond and listed as brother-in-law) and he stayed in Frederick county, VA per censuses - but I don't know anything about their children if they had any. some of Elizabeth's brother William's children ended up in Harrison county, so I was just curious. thanks for your time Julie
