Maker died at the home of his son, Fire Chief Burl Maker, on E. Maple Avenue, at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday forenoon, aged eighty-three. Up to a late hour Tuesday afternoon no arrangements had been made for the funeral. Mr. Maker had been failing in health for some time and during the last week or ten days his decline has been rapid. He buried his wife a year or two ago and is survived by the following childen: Burl and Oliver P. Maker and Mrs. Ellis Elder. He spent most of his life on a farm west of Noblesville which he sold only a few months ago. He was a civil war veteran, enlisting as a private in the company A. 6th Indiana Volunteer Infantry in August 1862 and served until peace was declaired. His war record being one of the longest of any soldier in Hamilton county.
