George Calviness Brandon, wife, Quintilla Hutchins/Hutchens. My great-great grandfather was their son, Eli Atchison Brandon. Eli married my great-great grandmother, Alice Jane "Alsey" Hutchins/Hutchens, the daughter of Jesse and Lydia Clark(e) Hutchins/Hutchens. Jesse and Quintilla were brother and sister. We do not know the names of the parents of George Calviness Brandon, born 06 February 1792, in Virginia. George married Quintilla "Tillar" Hutchins, 01 July 1815, in Surry Co., NC; she was born 13 February 1801, in Surry Co. (now Yadkin Co.), and was only 13 or 14yrs. of age. He came to Center Twp., Greene Co., Indiana with his wife Quintilla "Tillar" Hutchins and five children, two sons, Eli and Levi Brandon, and three daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy", Nancy, and Lydia. With them came George's brother, Allen Brandon, born 1790-1800, in Virginia, his wife and a child. Allen's wife was born 1810-1815; her name is not known. There is also a Thompson T. Brandon, born 10 October 1803 in Virginia, died 8 September 1876 in Greene Co., Indiana, who came at this time with his wife, Lydia, surname unknown, born about 1803 in North Carolina (her parents were also born in NC), died 1892, and three children, a son and two daughters according to the 1830 census. It is not known if this ! was another brother, or if, or how, he was related to George C. and Allen Brandon. Thompson T. Brandon was the administrator of George Brandon's estate. Thompson and Lydia are buried at "Flynn Cemetery" in Center Twp., Greene Co., IN. We are seeking the relationship of these 3 gentleman, and their parents. The above we gleaned from "Early Settlers of Greene County, Indiana (From Southern States)," Compiled by William R. Henry, deceased, © 1986; Published by: Central Georgia Genealogical Society, Inc., Post Office Box 2024, Warner Robins, Georgia 31099-2024, and Cosponsored by: Greene County Historical Society, Bloomfield, Indiana, Indiana 47424. We are also, seeking the relationship of the below Brandons of the 1820 Census. In the 1820 Census of Battalion 3 or Forks of the Yadkin, Rowan County, North Carolina, we found: Sarah Brandon, pg. 366: 1 male 10-16 1 male 16-26 1 male 18-26 1 male 45 & over 1 female under 10 1 female 26-45. John Brandon, pg. 366: 1 male 45 & over 1 female 45 & over. William Brandon, pg. 366: 1 male under 10 1 male 26-45 1 female 26-45 1 female 45 & over. George Brandon, pg. 378 (George Calviness/Caveness Brandon): 1 male 26-45 (George) 2 females under 10, (Elizabeth "Betsy", & Nancy) 1 female 16-26 (Quintilla-married at the age of 13 or 14yrs.). They were all in separate households, and I have absolutely no further information on them. This is what I am seeking. I want to find out if he was related to any of them, and who were the parents of George Calviness Brandon. Please, if you ever run across anything on the Brandons of Greene Co., IN, remember me!
