He was united in marriage to Mary Ann HOLT on the 15th day of December 1876 {1875?}. She preceded him to the great beyond eleven years ago. To this union were born five children - Mrs. Charles EASTON, Herbert, Will and Dan, of Switz City, and Mrs. Mart MCCONNELL of Shelburn. He leaves to mourn, one brother - Jacob LANDIS; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie BUSKIRK and Mrs. Ella HIATT; five children, twenty grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was a kind and loving father, an obliging neighbor, and will be sadly missed by his neighbors, as he was of a cheerful disposition, a man to lend a helping hand when needed and to sympathize with his friends in their sorrows. He often wished he would be taken away suddenly, and God granted his wish and took him to the land of love and happiness where there is no woe nor sorrow. Funeral services were conducted by Elder T. A. COX in the Baptist Church at Switz City on Saturday, December 2, 1922, and the interment was in the Switz City cemetery. - Link to the Obituary of his sister Melissa (LANDIS) BUSKIRK [1863OH-1933IN]: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.greene/3378/mb.ashx - Attached are the 1870, 1900 and 1920 US Census pages enumerating Samuel LANDIS. - Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
