[Transcribed on March 2, 2008 by RLJ from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.] John Guy BENHAM, well known resident of Bloomfield, died at 2:15 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Freeman-Greene County Hospital, following a lingering illness. Mr. BENHAM was born in Washington Township on October 31, 1887, and was the son of Joel and Samantha E. (HICKS) BENHAM. He had spent all of his life in Washington Township and Bloomfield. He was a retired farmer, and a former county commissioner for two years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Lyons, and a member of the Methodist Church and Bloomfield Chapter and Council, F. & A. M., of Bloomfield. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Grace (O'HAVER) BENHAM; one son John Franklin, of Elkhart; one daughter, Miss Anna Marie BENHAM, of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, a great-grandson, and a sister, Mrs. Maynard WELCH, of St. Petersburg, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Jenkins Funeral Home, with the Rev. M. B. MCCLURE officiating.
