A little more. The parents of Richard R (Riley) Rampley (Paul's father) appear to be John Rampley and Susan Huffman who married in Greene county on 27 Sep 1848. In the 1850 census the family is Greene county, Fairplay township, page 4, and is headed by John Rampley, 28, farmer, born in Ohio, and included Susan, 22, Ind, and Wright, 9/12, Ind. Unfortunately prior to 1880 no family relationships were shown. Something must have happened for in the 1860 census for the same township, page 45, the family is headed by Susan Rampley, 31, Ind and included Wright, 10, Ind, - McClain, 9, Ind, - Amanda J, 7, Ind, - Richard R, 4, Ind. Also included was a Mary A Cano, 50, Md, she is listed as insane, and Julia M Alger, 1, Ind. In the 1870 census the family is in the same township, Page 7, and is again headed by Susan A Rampley, 39, keeping house, Ind, and included Walter W (Wright), 20, farmer, Ind, - Mack, 18, works on farm, Ind, and Richard R, 14, Ind. In the 1880 census t! he family is in the same township, Dist 301, page 13, and is again headed by Susan Rampley, 49, keeping house, born in Ind, father in Va and mother in Ga, and included her daughter Amanda J, 25, at home, Ind, Md, Ind, her son Richard D, 20, farmer, same, and a boarder James Fortner, 22, laborer, Ind as were both parents.
