Timmons was in the listed unit and that he was captured in April 1864 at the Battle of Marks Mill, Arkansas along with nearly 2,000 other union soldiers. He remained a prisoner of war until exchanged in 1865. Many of the men from this battle were sent to Camp Ford, Texas for prison. As I have check for additional information I have learned many men in this Company were from Greene County. I have only scratched the surface and have located the following: Carey Fuller, David Fuller, B.D.Johnson, Andrew Burch, James Chaney, Robert Ashcraft, Elisha Messenger, Benjamin Carrell, and Samuel Livingston. I found others in other companies of the 43rd but found it unusual this many this far are all C Company? Does anyone know how many were prisoners, were they all sent to the same Prison? I will continue to dig for more names but thought I wanted to share this interest.
